Lessons Learned

As the one year mark of this newsletter approaches, it seemed fitting to share a few takeaways from the experience of putting it together every week.  There are too many things to list, but here are five that stick out.

  1. Buckle up:  Creating a newsletter and original content on a weekly basis is really hard work and requires serious dedication.  You constantly have to prioritize it over the 100 other things you’d rather be doing.

  2. Set a framework:  A set structure and design is key to instituting an efficient process.  It allows you to focus all your time and effort on the content itself.

  3. Find your favorites:  It's important to find good resources that you can consistently turn to for finding ideas and staying current on the latest trends.

  4. Think about it all week:  Every bit of content you consume and every situation you encounter throughout the week can be useful for creating your own content.

  5. Go with your gut:  There’s never enough time to plan out the content ahead of time.  If something pops into your head that week, run with it.
